Empty Nester's Flock to the Big City

As the baby-boomer generation grows older, many empty nesters are faced with the same dilemma: when kids move out into their own homes, a 3000 square foot home nestled in a quite suburban neighborhood just doesn’t have the same appeal it used to. Maintaining a larger home can become a burden, just like having to get in the car just to buy a quart of milk. For empty nesters, moving into the city brings many benefits; restaurants, movie theatres, diverse entertainment, faster commutes and dozens of other amenities within walking distance. In the past few years, the trend of downsizing has been gaining strength. Many couples are making the move to condos between 700-1200 square feet, the perfect size for two people, and much easier to maintain.

The 5 Roomy Steps to a Great Home

Every great home that you see in magazines, on television or in movies are all done by designers. Here at Roomy Interiors on King Street we are just that - and have six years experience to back it up.
And no, as designers we are not just people that went to school to learn which cousins go with which sofa. A designer is a person who can really work to bring your whole home together.
Don't get caught in the dark about lighting
Published in Untagged by Erin | Comment (0)Every design can be a good one, but without proper light the design and the furniture selected can be a disaster. That's why here at Roomy Home Interiors we have avalible a large selection of lighting in our King street showroom.
A college professor of mine always stressed the importance of lighting. "No design is a good design without proper lighting". Not only over head lighting you have to consider but also task lighting, and how much light is needed for eating or watching television? There are many aspects to to consider when selecting your lighting. Things like: at what height do I need my light? and what type of fixutre would work best in this space?

So much more than a sectional sofa!

It's a piece of furniture that we have all either had in our own homes, or know someone that does - the leather sectional sofa. The leather sectional is just another great, and currently very popular, piece of furniture that we have here at our Roomy Home Interiors store which is located on King Street in Toronto.
Like many of our pieces "custom" is the key word when talking about a piece of furniture. Though most recently the popular choice of fabric for a sectional sofa is leather. Not a fan of leather?
